D.C. man killed in dispute over broom

A cabdriver has been charged with murder after a District man who had been mowing a lawn Monday evening in Prince George's County was shot and killed after the driver stopped to pick up a broom he mistakenly thought had been discarded, law enforcement sources said.
The two men, who did not know each other, got into an argument over the broom, which was lying near some trash outside a home on Leroy Gorham Drive in the Capitol Heights area of the county, sources said. The argument escalated into a fistfight, and at some point, the 40-year-old man was shot, police said.
