Former Sen. Mark Hatfield, outspoken critic of war, dies at age 89

PORTLAND, Ore. — Former Sen. Mark Hatfield, an outspoken critic of war whose liberal views often put him at odds with fellow Republicans, died Sunday. He was 89.
