Virginians voting in primary elections

VIRGINIA VOTERS go to the polls Tuesday in primary contests to select candidates in a smattering of races for the state Senate, House of Delegates, county Boards of Supervisors, Commonwealth's Attorneys and county sheriffs. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In some districts, a tough challenger will await the primary winner in the fall's general elections. In others, where voters of one or the other party hold a commanding majority, the primary contest is tantamount to election.
The Post has endorsed candidates in three Democratic primary races in Northern Virginia where retirements or political moves have left open seats, including two Democratic-leaning Senate districts. In the 30th Senate District, which includes south Arlington and parts of Alexandria and southeastern Fairfax County, there are two strong candidates: Adam P. Ebbin, a member of the House of Delegates, and K. Rob Krupicka , a member of the Alexandria City Council. We endorsed Mr. Krupicka on the strength of his experience in the private sector and his expertise on education.
