D.C. police probe off-duty officer’s actions in fatal shooting

A D.C. police officer is under investigation in connection with her actions during and immediately after a fatal shooting, which she may have witnessed while off duty, authorities and law enforcement sources said.

Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said the officer has been removed from duty and is under investigation. Police sources said the case, which was first reported by Fox 5 News, stems from the Aug. 21 slaying of Wyatt Robinson in Northeast Washington.

Three law enforcement sources said authorities are investigating whether the officer failed to take police action after the shooting. The alleged shooter and the female officer have a romantic relationship, said the sources, who were not authorized to speak about the case.
