Cheap wings, flatscreens and fight songs: That's the recipe for a successful Saturday afternoon this fall. The Washington area is home to dozens of college alumni groups that gather every weekend at local bars to root for their teams.
Over time, certain bars have become closely associated with certain schools — the D.C. Texas Exes have been turning Arlington's Rhodeside Grill burnt orange for years, while West Virginia fans sing "Country Roads" while watching their team at Ragtime in Courthouse. (They don't gather there by chance: The bar is owned by a West Virginia alumnus.)
