Herman Cain raised $2.8 million in the third quarter and has $1 million cash on hand, according to his campaign.
The former Godfather's Pizza CEO announced the total during a campaign appearance in Tennessee Friday. He said the campaign had no debt.
The total comes in well shy of the other two front-runners in the GOP race, as former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney raised more than $14 million and Texas Gov. Rick Perry raised better than $17 million. Both men have about $15 million cash on hand.
