DOVER, Del. —Kurt Busch knew he had a car that was capable of winning Sunday's AAA 400. He just needed to figure out how to get around Jimmie Johnson.

When Busch's opportunity arrived with 42 laps remaining, he was ready. Johnson spun his tires on a restart, and Busch blasted past the five-time NASCAR champion on the outside, claiming his first career victory at Dover International Speedway and, in the process, tightening up the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings.
