Tawakkul Karman, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Leymah Gbowee win Nobel Peace Prize

Three women were jointly awarded the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for their contributions to the ongoing struggle for democracy in Yemen and to peace in Liberia.

Yemeni opposition leader Tawakkul Karman, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Liberian activist Leymah Gbowee were hailed as deeply courageous and visionary leaders who have peacefully sparked reform in societies usually dominated by men.
