Google\'s Lonely Planet

From the solitary caravan atop a moor in Ireland to the derelict house in southern Italy, they show some of the most desolate places on earth.

And with an eerie forest in France and barren South African road they are a set of images that appear to have been captured by an award winning photographer.

However this collection of images are actually all taken from Google Street View and were captured by a man who spent hours travelling round the world on his computer.

Aaron Hobson has now collated some of the best images he found during his journeys into the latest in his Cinemascapes series of work. Explaining how the project began, Aaron told MailOnline: 'It began when I was working with a film producer in Los Angeles.

‘I started using Google Street View to go around the city looking for places we could use for each scene in the movie.

‘I started to travel around the city using Street View when I wasn’t looking for sites for scenes but just looking around the city.

‘I soon became addicted to going around using the maps and the project started from there.

‘The images are the culmination of this and prove some of the amazing places Google's cars have been.’

Aaron, who lives in the remote Adirondack Mountains in New York State, said he chose isolated places because he wanted to share their splendour and beauty that is not often seen.

But he added that his choice of location was down to how the places were displayed on his computer. He continued: ‘The decision of where I chose to take images from was based partly on areas that have high quality images on Google Street View.

‘This ruled out the U.S. as the quality there is poor apart from parts of New York, Chicago and LA.

‘With that in mind I chose to explore Western Europe, South Africa, Brazil and Central America and the UK. ‘

Aaron's series include the houses of the poor in Cape Town, the grey of a remote Scottish village and the snowy fields of a town in the very east of France. His images are hugely popular and have previously been displayed in an art gallery in New York City, which has since unfortunately closed down.

But Aaron, who is not a trained photographer, believes people like his works because of their simplicity. He said: ‘I think that the reasons that people like my images and Cinemascenes series is that my pictures are not filled with histrionics’

‘Anyone can enjoy my images as many of them are opened ended and ask questions, such as “Where does a street go?”’Aaron says he has plans to continue capturing images from Google, while he is also working on two film projects.
