Indonesia Sweeps out All Gold Medals

Indonesian men’s team of Prima Simpatiaji and Edi Kusdaryanto claimed gold medals after winning he men’s doubles final beating Thailand’s double Sorachet Uayporn-Pee Meesuk 5-2. The second gold medal was won by women’s doubles by Wukirasih Sawondari-Maya Rosa who defeated compatriots Dwi Rahayu and Julia Sanger 5-4.
"It’s the greatest gift of my birthday today," said Wukirasih who is also celebrating her 31st birthday.
Women’s doubles gold medal achieved by Wukirasih was the third gold after she won two golds at women’s single and team events. Wurikasih is also the former national tennis player who have contributed a gold medal at the SEA Games in 1997 and 1999 (team) and the Asian Games in 2002 (team).
The third gold is then contributed to the mixed doubles final between fellow Indonesian pair, namely Edi Kusdaryanto -Septi Mende, who defeated Ferly Montolalu-Maya Rosa 4-3 (7-2).
Earlier, the Indonesian soft tennis team had already pocketed the men’s and women’s gold medals both in individual and team events. Thus soft tennis won seven gold medals, two silver and two bronzes.
