Diego Maradona arrived home Sunday to bury his mother Dalma Salvadora Franco de Maradona, who died on Saturday of heart failure. She was 81.
The Argentine football great arrived from Dubai, where he coaches Al Wasl in the domestic league. He was told of his mother's failing health and attempted to return home to be at her bedside but was informed of her death during the long flight.
Maradona did not speak publicly after arriving at Buenos Aires' international airport. He was reported to be in charge of making funeral arrangements, which have not been made public.
