Short Breaks in Spain

Modern life with its frenetic pace, fast food and other conveniences is increasingly changing the consumers attitude towards holidays.
Spashing out on a major holiday and then being disappointed by freak weather conditions or some other irritation seems foolish when instead, for the same money, you could take several short breaks spread out over the year.
There are many possible destinations but I will concentrate on one popular destination which is Benidorm in Spain. The reasons for Benidorms popularity is simply that it has much more to offer beyond the usual sun, sea, sand and sangria of your average Spanish holiday resort. It is worth knowing that Benidorm was originally a sleepy fishing village. It is authentic Spain, with churches and markets and history. Layer on top of this a holiday resort and traditional Spanish hospitality and you begin to understand the attraction.
For example, nearby is the Terra Mitica theme park a great family day out and one that is unlikely to be ruined by poor weather. Also nearby is the aqua park Aqualandia complete with water slides and rides. Not convinced? What about a walk in the nearby nature reserve, a trip to the safari park or a visit to the dolphin world. Benidorm has two major beach fronts with all the usual activities one might expect eg pedalos water skiing etc.
Also there are secluded beaches nearby for the more daring sun bathers.
The night life in Benidorm is legendary. Apart from the usual clubs and discos there are venues which regularly host top shows and acts from around the world.
All of this adds up to a lively scene and a fantastic holiday destination. Flights are cheap and internet booking easier than ever. It is little wonder that visitors are increasingly visiting Benidorm for a short cheap break.
If you wish to keep costs down, renting self-catering accommodation such as a villas or an apartments is the way to go rather than a full hotel package. This is especially true if you go as a group or if there are kids in your party. Most apartments have all the assets of a hotel, such as a private pool, but allow you space and freedom to come and go as you want.
Self-catering is easy and cheap. The local stores and markets provide everything you need and your accommodation will have an equipped kitchen to enable you to prepare your meals. But if this too much trouble Benidorm has plenty of inexpensive restaurants.
So if you are looking for a good value holiday or just a short break, Benidorm is well worth a closer look.
