In a city where the local government emerged out of decades of protest, D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray fits right in.
The 69-year-old Democrat has walked picket lines, marched down Pennsylvania Avenue, organized mass vigils and put his body on the line for a cause, most recently when he was arrested in April during a demonstration against Congress.
