Michelle Obama team claims jumping jack record

As part of her child obesity project, first lady Michelle Obama announced today that students, teachers, and parents -- joining with the organization National Geographic Kids -- broke the Guinness world record for most people doing jumping jacks in a 24-hour period.

Mrs. Obama's team pointed out that more than 300,265 people did jumping jacks during ceremonies around the world on Oct. 11-12.

"More than anything, I want to say, thanks to every single young person who showed that exercise isn't just good for you, but that it's fun too," Mrs. Obama said in a video just released by the White House.

It's an impressive feat, but more work remains, the first lady added.

"We've got an even bigger goal to after," she said. "Ending childhood obesity in a generation."
