Box Office: "Contraband" Steals the Top Spot

Making its way into theaters in fine order, "Contraband" took over the top spot at the box office over the weekend of January 13-15, 2012.

The Mark Wahlberg starring crime/action caper took in a pack-leading $9 million on Friday while expected to make $25 million over the course of the weekend.

Continuing to show positive results, another Disney classic re-release in "Beauty and the Beast 3D" claimed the runner-up slot, as the film pulled in $5.5 million on Friday while anticipated to bring in a total of $18.5 million on it's opening weekend of release.

Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals are another theatrical newcomer in the Queen Latifah starring motion picture "Joyful Noise" ($12.3 million), followed by "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" ($12.1 million) and last weekend's top movie "The Devil Inside" ($7.5 million).
