Box Office: "Contraband" Steals the Top Spot

Making its way into theaters in fine order, "Contraband" took over the top spot at the box office over the weekend of January 13-15, 2012.

The Mark Wahlberg starring crime/action caper took in a pack-leading $8.7 million on Friday and $8.6 million on Saturday while expected to make $24.1 million over the course of the weekend.

Continuing to show positive results, another Disney classic re-release in "Beauty and the Beast 3D" claimed the runner-up slot, as the film pulled in $5.6 million on Friday and $6.7 million more on Saturday while anticipated to bring in a total of $18.5 million on it's opening weekend of release.

Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals are "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" ($11.5 million), followed by another theatrical newcomer in the Queen Latifah starring motion picture "Joyful Noise" ($11.3 million) and "Sherlock Holmes 2" ($8.4 million).
