U.S. death rate from homicide drops to a near 50-year low

Things might not have gone well for the American economy in 2010, but for the health of the American people it was a pretty good year. Life expectancy clicked up a notch, the death rates fell for all five leading causes of death, and the death rate from homicide was as low as it's been in almost 50 years.
