And you know what? Dale Hunter is a smarter hockey man than many people I know. Former D.C. attorney general Peter Nickles is taking shots at Marion Barry. This is like the third movie in the "Grumpy Old Men" series. Nickles, who wasn't taken all that seriously to begin with in his term as AG, thinks the Ward 8 council member should be censured for his recent comments about Asians. Fair enough. The Post's Mike DeBonis reports on how these two guys are getting after each other, when they both could probably work it out over a game of shuffleboard. The English word "May" sort of rhymes with the French word "muguet." I only bring that up because it's the first of the month, and muguet, or lily of the valley, is used to celebrate international worker's day in France, a fact that is apropos of nothing other than the date. In other news, National Poetry Month ended yesterday, and I'm sure you noticed. Since you didn't, it's haiku time. Here it goes: April is now done. The flowers are yet to come. Before two, comes one. And, Fiona Zublin presents Poetry Madness. The best scene in the movie "Superbad" happens in a convenience store. Two cops run into McLovin trying buy beer after a robbery, and hilarity ensues. Fact is, his name isn't really McLovin. And he's a total mess at the counter with his fake ID. The comic relief comes after the cops grill him over the details of his driver's license, which indicate that he's an organ donor. These days, they could have just checked his Facebook to find out. Sexy hamburgers. There's an argument that the lock and key are the best non-electronic inventions of all time. Without them, we'd be left to the mercy of trust and faith in our neighbors, something that went out of the window a long while ago. And the history of the jingling items you so frequently lose or hold in your purses and pockets is in fact, quite interesting. Slate's Julia Turner explains how we moved from wooden rods to hotel keycards. I got an e-mail last night immediately after the Caps' win. It read "I have Bryce Harper tickets" somewhere in the first sentence and I immediately replied, "YES." I could not be more excited about this. Oh, and if you're wondering who sent me that e-mail, it was my trusty colleague J. Freedom du Lac, who I talk to every day I can. More importantly, WHAT IS NOT TO LIKE ABOUT BRYCE HARPER?! The Post's Adam Kilgore points out what we've learned about the 19-year-old so far. Extra Bites • There's a new trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises." I hate to say it, but, I can't take seriously anyone not named Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar or Lee Meriwether playing Catwoman. No disrespect to Anne Hathaway. Alas. • At 9:30 Club over the weekend, A$AP Rocky brought out Fat Trel. That's as real as it's been for hip-hop in D.C. in a LONG time. Major NSFW audio. • Here's my desk neighbor Swen working the scene at "Jeopardy!". This picture is awesome. Here's how to get at me.
