Two months ago Obama had a nine-point lead. On handling of the economy, voters are again split. But Obama's supporters are more enthusiastic. * Republicans pounded President Obama over today's dismal jobs report. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney calledthe numbers "devastating news" for Americans. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) called the numbers "pathetic." And the Republican National Committee released a web video called the report "a tragedy." * Three jurors from the John Edwards trial said today that they thought the politician was guilty but the majority was not convinced. An alternate juror also denied flirting with the accused politician, saying she was laughing about the media reaction to the group's color scheme. Meanwhile, Rielle Hunter is coming out with a book on her affair with Edwards. * Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) took a shot today at the outside groups supporting Ted Cruz for Senate. Groups who say Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) is too moderate, Perry said, "don't know anything about how Texas works." He added that "if they did, they would be endorsing David Dewhurst." Cruz held Dewhurst below 50 percent in the GOP primary, forcing a runoff. WHAT YOU SHOULDN'T MISS * Former president Bill Clinton campaigned in Wisconsin today against Gov. Scott Walker (R), who faces a recall election on Tuesday. His goal: to boost turnout for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, who is down in polls. "Ordinarily I'm against recall elections," he said, "but sometimes it is the only way to avoid a disastrous course." * Former North Dakota Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp (D) outraised Rep. Rick Berg (R-N.D.) in the pre-primary fundraising period for the state's Senate race. But Berg has more in the bank, because Heitkamp has been spending heavily. Heitkamp raised $497,100, spent $581,700 and has $760,000 in cash on hand from April 1 through May 2. Berg raised $443,300, spent $389,200 and has $1.6 million on hand. * Obama took a side in a member-vs-member primary for the first time this election cycle, backing Rep. Steve Rothman over Rep. Bill Pascrell in a bitter New Jersey Democratic primary. Rothman broke for Obama in 2008, when most New Jersey politicos supported Hillary Clinton. The move pits Obama against Bill Clinton, who is backing Pascrell. * Ron Barber (D) has continued to outraise Jesse Kelly (R) in the June 12 special election for the Arizona House seat vacated by Gabrielle Giffords. Between March 29 and May 23, Barber raised $641,000 while Kelly took in $455,000. Barber has raised $1.2 million overall, while Kelly has raised $666,000. Meanwhile, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is out with a tough new ad hitting Kelly for proposing Medicare be eliminated over time. THE FIX MIX Gotye + dogs = something?
