President Teresa Sullivan to step down Aug. 15 Teresa Sullivan will step down on Aug. 15 as president of the University of Virginia, after just two years as the first female president of the vaunted "public Ivy" in Charlottesville. A university statement Sunday morning attributed Sullivan's departure to "a philosophical difference of opinion" between the former University of Michigan provost and U-Va.'s board.
