Japan strengthens Cooperation in the Field of Climate Change

The Japanese government was determined to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia in addressing climate change impacts. Today, Friday (25/11/2011), the two countries joint work plan, which is expected to be a companion Framework programs of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

In a press release received by the Japanese Embassy this Friday afternoon mentioned, there are eight points of cooperation agreed upon between the Governments of Japan and Indonesia. Overall aim to cooperate more intensively in order to succeed the Conference of Parties (COP) The 17 in Durban, South Africa, which will take place on 28 November to 9 December next.

Some specific things you agreed, among other things, cooperation management and planning of sustainable forest-related programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD +). Japan also agreed to explore further cooperation in developing advanced technologies related to energy conservation and renewable energy.

Parties to the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta will also continue to forge closer cooperation with the National Council on Climate Change (DNPI) and extend the consultation process, both in public and private sectors, through the identification and implementation of model projects, capacity building and joint research in line with the basic principles of the UNFCCC.
