Japanese Prepare Generation Fighter-6

TOKYO, - While developed countries are still in the early stages of the production of fifth generation fighter, Japan is preparing for the concept and design of the sixth-generation fighter that has the ability to "anti-(plane) stealth" (counterstealth).

According to the defense magazine Jane's Defence Weekly 16 November 2011 edition, which received Compass, Thursday (11/25/2011), fighter 6th generation aircraft will be built based on the concept of the ATD-X (Advanced Technology Demonstrator-X). ATD-X plane itself will soon enter the manufacture of airframe (airframe).

Japan's Ministry of Defense and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will reportedly sign a contract making the ATD-X later this year. Kemhan Japan has prepared a budget worth 39.2 billion yen (approximately Rp 4, 5 trillion) from 2009 to 2016.

"Technologically, Japan did not have a problem to develop stealth capabilities (in aircraft). We will make a great airplane," said Lt. Gen. Hideyuki Yoshioka, Director of Air Systems Development and Research Institute for Technical Development Kemhan Japan.

Plan the deployment of the fifth-generation fighter-tech stealth Chengdu J-20 by China and Sukhoi PAK-FA T-50 Russian-made Japanese fighter development project looking at the future of this very urgent.

"China and Russia will each hold a Chengdu J-20 and Sukhoi PAK-FA T-50 in the near future. We know we are effectively detecting 28 radar the third and fourth generation aircraft from a distance, but with the emergence of fifth generation aircraft is , we are not sure how the performance of radars that later, "said Yoshioka.

Three-star general is expected ATD-X will make its debut in fiscal year 2016. "The inaugural flight in 2016 is an absolute necessity. It is vital for the air defense of our country," said Yoshioka.

Research base

Nevertheless, the ATD-X will not necessarily be mass-produced fighter aircraft to replace the role of Mitsubishi F-2 at this time. ATD-X will only be used for researching a variety of more advanced technology and systems integration, as the basis for producing the sixth-generation fighter aircraft.

In Japan the concept, the sixth-generation fighter will have the ability to I3 (informed, intelligent, instantaneous) and has a characteristic counterstealth. This sixth generation aircraft are staying digadang will replace the fleet of F-2 fighter aircraft platforms manufactured by US-made F-16.

"ATD-X will not necessarily become Japan's new generation aircraft. But with stealth capabilities and ensure manuverabilitasnya, we hope he will be the basis for the next generation F-2," said Colonel Yoshikazu Takizawa of TRDI.

Although not going to run into obstacles in terms of technology, Japan is expected to face political hurdles of its main ally, the United States. The U.S. has always objected Japan developed its own fighter aircraft design. One alternative that will be taken is to invite the U.S. to develop along this sixth-generation fighter aircraft.

The U.S. is currently the only country in the world that has operated the fifth-generation fighter, the F-22 Raptor, and in the near future is likely to soon operate the F-35 Lightning II.
