Russell Brand and Katy Perry are getting a divorce

Katy Perry and Russell Brand are getting a divorce.

"Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage," Brand said in a statement to the Associated Press. "I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends."

The 27-year-old pop star and the 36-year-old British comedian wed in October 2010.

Brand filed for divorce Friday citing "irreconcilable differences," according to the divorce petition obtained by TMZ.
